This RenderMan 24 OSL pattern shader generates sine/cosine periodic patterns from ST coordinates and blends them.
You can generate an enormous amount of periodic patterns with it and the sky is the limit once you start blending multiple instances of it as I'm demoing in this video. (The scene file is included with the download.)
Blending arithmetic modes include:
- sin() or cos() functions for S and/or T
- Function output remapping from between 1- and 1 to a new min. and max.
- Scale and Offset
- Manifold input
- Output clamp
ST (UV) coordinates must be available on your geometry. BTW you can warp them using noises wired into Scale or Offset inputs either directly on the Periodic ST node or in a Manifold for an endless variety of patterns.
For you Houdini users, a .hda is already included and you can simply copy that to your $HOME/otls directory. To avoid conflicts with the .oso or other nodes you might have, the full table name of the HDA is hristo::rman_periodicst::1.0.
Copy the .oso file to Pixar/RenderManProServer-24.0/lib/shaders and restart your 3D application.
Have fun generating numerous patterns and I'll get a beer! Cheers!

Good news! Since you already have a Gumroad account, it's also been added to your library.
